Satellite navigation has been used in vehicles and also on motorbikes for a very long time. In the meantime the technology has become affordable and the equipment is very easy to operate.
We have experienced live the laborious process of entering co-ordinates for waypoints by hand up to the modern units with routing accurate right down to street level. So we have worked out our skills.
Today there is the right unit for any use. It seems almost as if the good old paper map has had it because the GPS offers so many advantages. Most units are waterproof. At night the integral light is a help. The map display is clear, you can zoom into particularly difficult points. There is the ideal unit for rally use, for daily use on Germany's trunk roads and for long distance journeys. Added to this is Touratech's correct bracket. Proven quality.
Currently there are units just with navigation and units with guides right down to street level. Integral memory or downloadable chips contain the necessary maps. Integral databases provide interesting points from hotels to filling stations.
